HWY 59 Bridge in Barling Back Open to Traffic

Sleet and freezing rain will move into parts of the area overnight causing slick conditions.

Weather Alert: Sleet and freezing rain are causing some slick conditions across the area. Travel delays are expected throughout the morning commute. 

Northwest Arkansas:

I-540: Arkansas State Police are responding to a 12-car pileup on Highway I-540 at exit 69 causing significant delays for Fayetteville drivers.

Springdale- Reports of ice on Interstate 540 bridge near Sunset Avenue exit were called into the Springdale Police Department around 6 a.m.

Bentonville- Northwest 2nd Street between Northwest D Street and Northwest A Street will be closed to one lane.  The city of Bentonville is requesting drivers attempt to find an alternative route to this road due to expected delays.  This closure continues for the next two months.

Fayetteville- The shoulder of Fulbright Expressway (eastbound) will be closed to allow the installation of bridge overhang decking on the flyover bridge.  Monday night and Tuesday morning one lane of College Avenue (southbound) will also be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

River Valley:

Hwy. 59 Bridge (Barling)- The Highway 59 bridge in Crawford County is now back open for traffic after being closed due to two separate accidents, according to Arkansas State Police.

Pocola- Pocola Police reporting the Poteau River Bridge is blocked by a multi-car accident. Police say the bridge is a solid sheet of ice. The bridge was sanded last night. Pocola Police have worked about 15 accidents since yesterday afternoon because of the winter weather conditions.

Fort Smith- Arkansas State Police working a two car accident at the Rogers Ave. exit off of northbound I-540.

I-540- Slowdowns are frequently expected from Van Buren to Fort Smith due to an ongoing highway improvement project.

Van Buren- Police say the Kibler HWY bridge near 28th St. is shut down.
