LSU Scores Late To Take Down Arkansas

Arkansas was looking to recapture the Golden Boot but the LSU offense, thanks to a backup quarterback snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Freshman quarterback Travin Dural hit Anthony Jennings for a 49 yard touchdown with 1:15 left as LSU picked up the 31-27 win.

The touchdown capped a 99-yard drive that last just 1:49. Arkansas had downed a punt inside the Razorbacks’ one.

Arkansas finishes the season 3-9 after losing their final nine games of the season. LSU has now won the Golden Boot three straight seasons.

This is the eighth time in the last nine meetings the game was decided by seven points or less.

Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen was sacked and stripped of the football with 33 seconds left to end the Razorbacks’ chances.

Allen finished the game with 178 yards and two scores passing, with both touchdowns coming to freshman tight end Hunter Henry.

Alex Collins rushed for just 28 yards but broke the 1,000 yard mark, just the second Arkansas freshman and the 10th in SEC history to reach the milestone.

Arkansas kicker Zach Hocker became the school’s all time field goal leader with 61 after his 28 yard field goal game Arkansas a 20-14 lead in the third quarter.
