Ty Storey received bad news when the Charleston semifinal game with Earle was postponed due to winter weather.
The Tigers quarterback got good news the following day as he was named the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year.
Storey has led the Tigers to a 13-0 start and has thrown for 3,523 yards and 42 touchdowns. Storey has played in just more than half of the number of quarters this season as the Tigers ran through the regular season and first few rounds of the 3A playoffs.
“He’s exceeded my expectations, without a doubt,” Charleston coach Greg Kendrick said. “He sets very high expectations for himself and he’s never satisfied. He continues to push himself and his teammates as they’re trying to get better everyday.”
Storey is coming off his biggest game of the season as he threw for 519 yards and seven touchdowns at previously ranked No. 1 and defending state champion Harding Academy.
Charleston will host Earle next Friday (Dec. 13) at 7 p.m.
