Weather Alert: Winter weather moving in across the area is expected to cause traffic slowdowns during morning commutes.

WHEN: Precipitation will begin around Thursday morning and continue into the day. Travel conditions are expected to worsen during the day despite a relatively easy drive to work or school.

Totals: Upwards of .50″ of ice are possible in the River Valley causing widespread power outages and travel problems. Anywhere between 4 and 6″ of sleet and snow is possible in NWA.

Northwest Arkansas:

Bentonville- Northwest 2nd Street between Northwest D Street and Northwest A Street will be closed to one lane.  The city of Bentonville is requesting drivers attempt to find an alternative route to this road due to expected delays.  This closure continues for the next two months.

Fayetteville-

  • Drivers should expect slowdowns due to the ongoing Fullbright Expressway construction project.

River Valley:

I-540- Slowdowns are frequently expected from Van Buren to Fort Smith due to an ongoing highway improvement project.

Van Buren- Drivers should use caution driving on Rena Road due to construction.
