The SEC championship game had a ton of offense but a pair of defensive stops helped give Auburn the league title for the second time in four years.

The Tigers (12-1) stopped Missouri twice on fourth down in the fourth quarter to help pull away for a 59-42 win at the Georgia Dome.

Auburn running back Tre Mason set SEC championship game records with 303 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Missouri (11-2) had no answer for the Tigers ground game as Auburn rushed for 546 yards and attempted just 11 passes.

Tigers’ quarterback Nick Marshall was 9-of-11 passing for 132 yards while he added 101 yards rushing and accounted for two total scores.

Missouri had 534 yards of offense, including 303 passing from James Franklin but the Tigers could not keep up with Auburn.

The win is the fifth straight for the SEC West division.
