Snow & Ice Didn’t Stop the Children’s Christmas Train
The Children’s Christmas Train in Springdale was one of the few events in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley to not be cancelled after the winter storm moved through the area.
“Oh I love driving in ice and snow, so we were coming no matter what,” said Andy Charles, of Rogers.
The Children’s Christmas Train started a decade ago. It’s a 40 minute ride inside a restored 1940s train. Santa and Mrs. Claus were special guests on the train ride.
“Oh it was so much fun, Santa was fantastic with the kids… so we love it,” said Liesel Stanley, who recently moved to Arkansas. “It was a bonus.”
Brothers Owen Taylor, 2, and Jackson, 4, said their favorite part was Santa.
“He brought us presents and they are under our Christmas tree,” said Jackson.
Their mom, Brittney Taylor said, “My boys love trains and love Santa so it’s the perfect combination.”
After visiting each train car, Santa always had a message for the little ones.
“Somehow not only for Christmas but a the long year through the joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you,” Santa said.
The train ride benefits children charities in Northwest Arkansas.
