A fire broke out at Nuclear One in Russellville just before 8 a.m. Monday (Dec. 9), according to firefighters.

The London Volunteer Fire Department said a transformer was on fire but is now under control.

Donna Gregory, spokesperson for Nuclear One, said the transformer was located in Unit 2 of the plant, which is currently offline. The fire did not affect Unit 1, which is currently providing power to customers, according to Gregory. She said firefighters had the flames put out by 9:17 a.m. and no injuries were reported.
