Hal Qualls, an assistant football coach at Rogers Heritage High School, has entered a not guilty plea on a DWI charge, according to the Rogers District Court Clerk’s Office.
Qualls was set to appear in Rogers District Court on Dec. 10 following a misdemeanor DWI arrest last month, but his lawyer entered a not guilty plea on his behalf instead, the clerk’s office said. Qualls’ next court date is expected to be set by Dec. 13.
Qualls, whose Twitter page listed him as the quarterbacks coach at the school, was arrested by Benton County Sheriff’s deputies on Nov. 2 after being after being stopped at 11 p.m. on West Pleasant Grove Road in Rogers, deputies said. His blood alcohol content level was .133, deputies said.
The school district confirmed on Nov. 11 that Qualls was still employed at the high school but would not say whether he had been suspended or otherwise disciplined. He was still listed on school website on Dec. 10 as a staff member.
Roger Hill, the district’s assistant superintendent for human resources, said last month he could not comment on personnel matters, but added, “We hold our employees to a very high standard.”
