The Bentonville Public Schools canceled classes for the fifth day in a row and students will need to gear up for make up days. In the meantime, road crews keep cleaning ice off the streets.
Mary Mae Jones Elementary School first grade teacher Julie Dibee has been home for five snow days with her two daughters Amanda, 14, and Madelyn, 10.
"We've done some wrapping, cooking, we've enjoyed it all," Julie Dibee said.
She said she drove around the streets before the school district called off school Tuesday night.
"There are schools very close and I didn't know how the buses were going to make it," Julie Dibee said.
Bill Breedlove said he's been spending quality time with his six-year old granddaughter Nataly Nofire.
"We're not used to her being here all day but we sure enjoy having the time to be with her," Breedlove said. "She's been sledding and playing on her IPAD."
The school district has two built-in snow days on holidays but after that the district extends it's school year.
"You know you miss them, you gotta make them up so I think she loves going to school so it won't be any problem at all," Breedlove said.
The make up days will be on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, May 30th, June 2nd and June 3rd.
"Not too excited about them but we have to them," said Amanda Dibee who goes to Bentonville High School. "I liked the days off but going back is hard."
Her mom Julie said, "I think safety was most important and I think they made the right call."
Arkansas law requires at least 178 days of student learning.
