Roadways across Washington and Benton counties are still icy, one week after the area was pounded with snow and ice.

Although main streets are plowed and show dry pavement, many side streets and rural roads were still iced over Wednesday.

Many drivers slid off the road Wednesday (Dec. 11) as they made their way to or from work, but no major injuries were reported.

A winter storm hit Northwest Arkansas last Thursday (Dec. 5) and Friday, leaving several inches of snow. Local schools have been closed each day since, but schools in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville plan to hold classes Thursday.

Police are urging drivers to continue to use extra caution when driving.
