Authorities arrested an inmate released from a River Valley jail by mistake, according to a news release on Monday (Dec. 23) from the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Lamont Thompson, 41, who was being held on suspicion of third-degree domestic battery and more, was released from the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on Dec. 19. His cousin, who has the same last name and a similar body type and features, was due to be released the same week, according to the news release.

Deputies found Thompson around 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon with a female companion, Birdie Embry (27) of Fort Smith. Thompson and Embry were both arrested and charged with felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Embry was also charged with felony Hindering Apprehension.

Thompson is awaiting transport to the Arkansas Department of Corrections and still has outstanding warrants in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma.
