The Creekmore Express train ride has been a tradition for decades in Fort Smith. Large crowds across the River Valley come out to take a ride annually.
"This has been around since 1949,” said conductor Mike Cooper.
Cooper said crowds come far and wide every night for the thrill, speed and lights of the Creekmore Express.
One family of four said they are making a tradition out of the ride.
"This is our first year to come out here,” said Jaime Graham. “We've never done this before. We wanted to start a family tradition, just to see the joy on our son's face, to see all the lights"
The Creekmore Express will be closed on Christmas Day, but will reopen Thursday (Dec. 26). Organizers for the ride suggest a 25-cent donation. Cooper said the express will stop rides on Saturday (Dec. 28), reopening in May.
