Freezing Fog to Impact After-Christmas Travel Across Area

Heavier traffic is expected throughout the day as travelers return home from Christmas events, but weather may cause some problems.

Weather Alert: Freezing Fog Across the Area is expected to cause travel delays this morning.  The fog should clear later this morning as temperatures warm.

List of Area Delays:

Northwest Arkansas:

Bentonville- Northwest 2nd Street between Northwest D Street and Northwest A Street will be closed to one lane.  The city of Bentonville is requesting drivers attempt to find an alternative route to this road due to expected delays.  This closure continues for the next two months.

Fayetteville- Work underway on the south side of Bud Walton Arena will cause the closure of Leroy Pond Drive for drive through traffic. Anyone needing to access east Clinton Drive or Razorback Road  will need an alternate route during this time of construction. These closures will go through the first week of January.

River Valley:

Fort Smith- Three-car accident on 5th and Garrison is backing up traffic. Extent of injuries is unknown. An ambulance was called to the scene of the accident.

I-540- Slowdowns are frequently expected from Van Buren to Fort Smith due to an ongoing highway improvement project.’

Van Buren- Drivers should use caution driving on Rena Road due to construction.

Area Travel Alert: The Eastbound Ft. Smith Junction in Oklahoma County isclosed due to ice and accidents.  Travelers returning from Central Oklahoma to the Fort Smith area will see delays.
