Does this cold blast of winter weather have you wishing you were fireside with a warm blanket, hot cup of tea, and good movie or books? Many area are looking for ways not just to warm themselves but keep “cozy.”

Reports show a study conducted by Dr. Ted Myatt with Environmental Health and Engineering set out to find the “coziest” cities in the United States. These were cities in his research which were comfortable to live in based on ambiance and accessibility.  Reports show the criteria looked at a variety of factors including: fireplace/space heater usage, access to parks, how accessible coffee shops and restaurants were on foot,  stress factors, and historical ambiance.

The study found the following were the top ten coziest cities:

  1. Boston/Cambridge, Mass.
  2. San Francisco, Calif.
  3. Santa Fe, N.M.
  4. Washington, D.C.
  5. Portland, Ore.
  6. Seattle, Wash.
  7. Baltimore, Md.
  8. Providence, R.I.
  9. New Orleans, La.
  10. Savannah, Ga.
