Students were let out of school early in Lincoln on Wednesday (Jan. 8) because of icy rural roads.
Now, students have to make up nine days, with some classes scheduled on Saturdays.
Buses and parents picked kids up from school at 1:30 p.m.
Parent's opinions were divided on the school administrator's decision to cancel classes.
"It really don’t matter to me because I’d rather them be safe at home than out of this ice because it is bad where we live," Barbara Holden said. "We live in Cane Hill and it’s really slick down through there."
Amanda White has one son to pick up from school and didn't agree with the judgement call.
"I think it’s crazy, I mean the roads aren’t slick, but I’m sure they are in some places, but they’re not in town and other things," she said. "I think it should be the judgment of the parents."
Some parents said it wasn't a big deal to pick their kids up.
"I know a lot of the students live in the rural community, rural routes and it’s not that big of a deal to add some extra days to the end of the year," Michelle Flickinger said. "Safety first, you can always add to the days, you can’t replace a life."
Barbara Miller was upset about the cancellation because she thinks students have missed too many days.
"I’m kind of wondering why… it’s not that much longer until they get out and they’ve missed so much school already," she said. "I guess they’ll just make it up this summer. Woo hoo."
