Icy Roads Lead to Accidents, Slow Thursday Commute

Roads throughout the River Valley are covered in thin sheets of ice, which could make your commute a slow one.

Weather Alert: Slowdowns are reported across the area due to patches of ice and slick conditions on roads.

Northwest Arkansas:

Highway 16: Numerous vehicles stuck on highway 16 E. of Illinois Riversbridge. There are icy road conditions, according to state police.

Highway 43- Traffic Accidents are reported in both lanes.

Highway 264- ASP: 1-car accident on hwy 264 east of airport, nose of vehicle partially blocking roadway, no injuries

I-540 (Near Bobby Hopper Tunnel)- One person was taken to the hospital after two semi-trucks and car crashed near the tunnel early Thursday morning.

I-540 (Near Washington County)- Icy patches Reported.

Highway 59- Icy patches Reported.

Highway 412-Icy patches Reported.

Highway 12 (Benton County)- Black ice reported, according to Arkansas State Police.

Springdale- Police worked a two-car accident on the 4800 block of Wagon Wheel Rd. They say it's slick and no one was hurt.

River Valley:

I-40 - Major slowdowns in Franklin County through Ozark. Arkansas State Police say tractor trailers were blocking both the East and West bound lanes. Troopers arrived on scene with sand to help get the trucks off the road. Both lanes are back open, but traffic is moving slowly.

I-540- The South bound lane south of the Bobby Harper Tunnel is blocked by a multi-car accident involving two tractor trailers and one car. Medical transport was needed. Injuries are unknown.
