LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – The Arkansas National Guard announced that all reserve component military pay will be delayed.

This delay stems from a lack of budget or continuing resolution delegated by Congress. The current resolution is set to expire this Wednesday, and this is the third time in 12 months that pay has been delayed.

Guardsmen are frustrated but said they are getting used to it.

“I hate to say it’s the new norm. I hope it’s not, but it’s a challenge that we will overcome. I know our leadership is doing everything that they can to mitigate the impact,” said state public affairs officer Mett Sneed.

Around 8,500 guardsmen have drilled over the past two weekends; their pay for that service is to be recorded but not dispersed until funding is restored.
