A truck driver was killed Saturday night in a Sequoyah County, Okla., crash after a tractor-trailer burst into flames, according to Oklahoma State Police.

A 2008 freightliner truck and trailer were traveling on Interstate-40, four miles east of Sallisaw, when the vehicle left the roadway on the right for some reason. The tractor-trailer became airborne and struck a concrete culvert, bursting into flames, according to a state police crash report.

The fatal wreck, which occurred around 10:40 p.m., is still under investigation, police said.

The truck driver’s name is being withheld by police during the investigation, according to state police. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in the crash. Conditions were clear and dry at the time, police said.
