Ohio State has hired Arkansas defensive coordinator Chris Ash, according to Sports Ilustrated.

According to the report, Ash will serve as the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the Buckeyes.

Ash followed head coach Bret Bielema to Arkansas in 2013 from Wisconsin, where he served the same role in 2011 and 2012.

Ash’s contract at Arkansas is worth $550,000 per year through 2015, with a buyout of $100,000.

Bielema tweeted on Tuesday: “Have always felt transition on my staff has allowed us to get even better. Have had success hiring right people and will again. #woopig #1-0”

If the report is true, Arkansas would have a fourth defensive coordinator in four years.

Ash would also be the second Arkansas assistant to leave this off season. Defensive line coach Charlie Partridge left for the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic last month.

Samford’s Rory Segrest replaced Partridge last week.
