The Atkins Middle School was evacuated Friday morning after a bomb threat was found written on a wall, according to a statement released by the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the school was cleared around 8 a.m. after the threat was found. Authorities with the Atkins Police Department, the city fire department and the Arkansas State Police searched the grounds and lockers for any danger, but found nothing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation revealed the students and staff at the school were never in danger, deputies said. Classes resumed around 10 a.m., and the case was forwarded to the Pope County Prosecutor’s Office to review and determine if any charges will be filed in the case, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement.
