The former Rogers fire chief injured last week in a tractor accident is out of surgery and “doing well,” according to the Rogers Fire Department’s social media profiles.
Former interim chief Alan Bradrick underwent surgery over the weekend and will soon be weaned off of his ventilator, according to the fire department. Bradrick was placed Jan. 30 in the Intensive Care Unit of a Joplin-area hospital in “very critical” condition, said Bryan Hinds, deputy chief for field operations at the fire department.
Bradrick was flown by medical helicopter to the hospital following a tractor crash the day before on Patton Road in Pea Ridge.
Before undergoing surgery on his chest and hip, the Rogers Fire Department released a statement Saturday saying, “(Bradrick) has stabilized, but he continues to be in ICU. Surgery options are being explored and all the kind words and thoughts are appreciated.”
The former chief’s family told the fire department Bradrick was on his farm tractor when somehow it ran over him. He was able to phone for help.
The Pea Ridge Fire Department responded and a helicopter took him to a Joplin hospital.
Bradrick’s next door neighbor Darrell David said he’s known the victim for about a decade.
“I don’t really know what happened but it was a bad accident,” David said. “He’s a good man and I’m very sorry this happened to him. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.”
Bradrick served with Rogers Fire for 24 years, authorities said. He served as Interim Chief from 2007-2008.
