Man Dies After Car Accident in Leflore County

Man Hits Deer

An automobile accident in Leflore County has lead to the death a driver (identified as Huey Mangus, 79).

The accident took place seven miles north of Talihina.

Huey was driving a 2000 Chevy Pickup northbound on US Route 271. The vehicle departed the roadway to the left and collided with a guardrail, ejecting the driver approximately five feet, according to a news release from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, and the airbag did not deploy.

Mangus was lifeflighted to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition with trunk internal, trunk external, head, arm, and leg injuries.

The medical examiner’s office later declared Mangus dead.
