A high-speed police chase ended with a two-vehicle wreck off of Interstate 540 in Rogers on Friday afternoon, according to the Bella Vista Police Department.

A maroon Jeep Cherokee driven by two theft suspects crashed into the back of a white Dodge Ram pickup truck around 3 p.m. on an off-ramp from I-540 at Exit 83, at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade area, said Chief Ken Farmer with Bella Vista police.

Two people from the Cherokee were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Rogers Fire Department.

The wrecked vehicles were hauled away, and Arkansas State Police and Bella Vista police responded to the crash, along with an ambulance from the Rogers Fire Department.

Police received a call at 2:30 p.m. reporting a theft at a Jane, Mo., Walmart. The suspects fled the scene in a maroon Jeep Cherokee, Farmer said. An employee leaving work at a Casey’s General Store near Arkansas Highway 279 and Arkansas Highway 340 then saw people take the license plate from his vehicle before speeding off in a maroon Jeep Cherokee around 2:45 p.m., police said.

Farmer said Bella Vista police chased the Cherokee southbound on Interstate 540, with state police later joining in. The Cherokee then crashed into the pickup truck around 3 p.m., police said.

Isn’t this how it usually goes My daughter and grandson were sitting on that off-ramp and thankfully, she had a sense of impending danger and got to the far side of the road or else that Jeep would have hit her truck and caused them serious damage….or worse! This really disgusts me to know that these people got away with it like this. :(
