Of the seven finalists in the competition, three reside in Northwest Arkansas.

One of them is Matt Knoble, a 5th grade social studies teacher at Bright Field Middle School in Bentonville. He was also a finalist in the 2011 Ozark Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter contest. The song he entered is called, “Right Here In Arkansas.”

Another artist, Candy Lee, submitted a song called, “Here In Arkansas.” She is a 2011 Northwest Arkansas Music Award Winner for Best Female Singer/Songwriter and Best Female Vocalist in a Band. Lee currently resides in Fayetteville.

Barrett Baber, who also lives in Fayetteville, co-wrote the song, “A.R.K.A.N.S.A.S. Get There from Here,” with songwriter and musician Kenny Lamb of Bentonville. Baber is the son of a southern baptist minister and recorded his song at the Haxton Road Studios in Bentonville.
