Missing Arkansas Forestry Commission pilot Jake Harrell is dead, the forestry commission said Tuesday.

His plane was located outside of Glenwood Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:05 pm, according to a news release from the Arkansas Forestry Commission.

It was sighted from the air. The site is in Montgomery County and was confirmed by an Arkansas State Police helicopter.

Ground crews, including law enforcement officials, were deployed to the site.

Jake Harrell was declared missing on Friday (Jan. 31st) when he failed to check in after communicating with AFC Central Dispatch in Malvern.

Harrell was 34 years old and had flown with the AFC since 2005 – alongside service with the Arkansas Air National Guard 188th Fighter Wing and employment with the North Little Rock Police Department.

The plane was not a Civil Air Patrol plane it was an Arkansas forestry commission plane. The Civil Air Patrol plane found the crashed plane.

This media is getting worse almost daily with misleading and sometimes incomphrensible news articles. A missing Civil Air Patrol plane??

I wish we could get some Arkansans in these “news” organizations. I’m tired of the revolving door of out-of-staters who have no genuine interest in our community (especially the liberal propagandists who now own KFSM).

I agree completely. Does anyone read these before posting them for world to read? I always check out Channel 5’s posts and find this is NOT the first time I have seen serious issues. Someone should make an adjustment to the process. We want to see your stories, but in a more professional style.

Come on folks… Laughing at these poor fellows is 90% of the entertainment. 5 news regularly makes me feel better about my own short comings.

not worried about their mistakes…only thing that matters or should matter is that he was found..think about the family.

NO JOKE Tiffany Romine.. THINK ABOUT THE FAMILY with a HEADLINE LIKE THAT!! SHOW SOME COMPASSION & TACT CHANNEL FIVE!!

Channel Five needs to show compassion for the family and also needs to proof-read ALL of their stories. Reports are becoming increasingly inaccurate. Prayers go out to his family and friends.
