Former Fayetteville police officer Jamison Stiles appeared in Washington County court this morning (Feb. 12). He is charged with rape, sexual assault, and residential burglary.

Stiles was arrested and fired in December 2013 after a woman said he sexually assaulted her after handcuffing her and taking her home from a bar while on duty.

The Fayetteville Police Department initiated an internal investigation into Stiles following the rape allegation, after which a former police dispatcher accused him of sexually assaulting her at her home.

Stiles' personnel file was released yesterday after the state Attorney General issued an opinion, stating those documents are public record.

"On the criminal side of it, all of our investigation stuff has been turned over to the Washington County prosecutor`s office. We will still be working with the prosecutor office helping him out in anyway that they can to really get the best case that we possibly can", said Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout.

A second Fayetteville Police officer was fired in connection with the case.
