The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville will host its annual National Salute to Veteran Patients on Friday (Feb. 14), according to a news release put out today.

The event will be held from 10 am to 12 pm.

There will be open-house activities where community leaders and the public can pass out Valentine’s Day cards to veteran patients in the facility.

“The National Salute to Veteran Patients provides those in Northwest Arkansas an opportunity to let our nation’s Veterans know that they are not forgotten. In the past, local celebrities, elected officials, school children and other groups have visited during this event, and they are invited again this year as well,” the news release stated.

Senator John Boozman is confirmed to attend and to help hand out valentines.

Cards and letters have been collected from local schools and will be given to veterans during this time.

“The National Salute to Veteran Patients is a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to support and thank our nation’s Veterans in a very compassionate way,” Dr. Mark Enderle, Medical Center Director, said.  “And it provides a great way for people to learn more about helping the Veterans we serve every day.”
