The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has issued a code yellow alert for all negative blood types, according to a news release put out today.

This means that there is currently less than a two-day supply of this type on hospital shelves and donations are needed immediately.

Donors to the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks provide all of the blood for patients at thirty-eight area hospitals.  Every five minutes on average, a transfusion takes place.

It takes around 250 donations each day to meet the area’s blood needs.  Donors can help by giving this week at any of the following locations:

  • Bella Vista – 9 am to 12 pm, Monday, Feb. 17, Bella Vista Police Department, 105 Town Center
  • Bentonville – 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 19, BRR Architecture, 700 SE 5th Street
  • Bentonville – 12 pm to 4 pm, Friday, Feb. 21, Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, 1 Airport Boulevard
  • Berryville – 10 am to 3 pm, Friday, Feb. 21, Mercy Hospital Berryville, 214 Carter
  • Fayetteville – 2 pm to 5 pm, Tuesday, Feb. 18, First Security Bank, 1219 E. Joyce
  • Fayetteville – 9 am to 1 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 19, Fayetteville City Square, 101 W. Rock
  • Fayetteville – 9 am to 1 pm, Thursday, Feb. 20, Arvest Bank, 75 N. East Avenue
  • Gravette – 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday, Feb. 17, Ozark Community Hospital of Gravette, 1101 S W Jackson
  • Green Forest – 10 am to 3 pm, Tuesday, Feb. 18, Tyson of Green Forest, 601 Tyson Drive
  • Rogers – 10 am to 3 pm, Thursday, Feb. 20, Career Academy of Hair Design, 2100 W. Hudson Road
  • Rogers – 2 pm to 6 pm, Friday, Feb. 21, Olivewood Apartments, 1006 North 31st  #3
  • Springdale – 9 am to 1 pm, Monday, Feb. 17, Shiloh Christian School, 1707 Johnson Road
  • Springdale – 8 am to 11 am, Tuesday, Feb. 18, First Security Bank, 2863 W. Sunset

Donors can also give at CBCO’s Springdale Donor Center, 3503 S. Thompson, Monday – Thursday 11 am to 6 pm, Friday 8 am to 2 pm, or at CBCO’s Bentonville Donor Center, 1400 SE Walton Boulevard, Monday – Thursday 11 am to 6 pm, Friday 8 am to 2 pm.

To be eligible to give blood, donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo ID.
