Suspect Identified In Scott County Deadly Stabbing

The suspect in Sunday night’s deadly stabbing near Waldron has been identified as Joshua Beyard, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

The 23 year old was arrested after deputies said he stabbed and killed another man, identified as a 59-year-old Asian male. Sheriff Amy Carpenter said authorities are not releasing the name of the victim at this time, due to the ongoing investigation.

"It's still an ongoing investigation," said Carpenter.

The fatal stabbing happened about two miles east of Waldron, said Chief Deputy Terry Staggs. The victim was alive when he was put into an ambulance at the scene, authorities said. He died either en route to or just after arriving at a local hospital, said Waldron Police Chief David Millard.

"He was the nicest man I have ever met," said the victim's neighbor Jimmy Hutchens. "He never caused no trouble."

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police are involved in the investigation.

"It's the first time anything like this ever happened," said Hutchens.

Beyard did have a previous arrest record. See that record below.

1 family lost a father, grandfather and husband. Another is losing their big brother, grandson & child. I’m praying for both families during this hardship.

  • Gao

I’m praying for all those who are hurt during this tragic time, as well as for Joshua Beyard. I pray that he’ll find peace in his heart and in ours during this journey to forgiveness. From the victim’s family in MN.

hopefully Joshua dies a slow death like the victim in this tragedy. No need to waste tax payer money on this idiot.

Who are you to judge his buddies? Do you personally know them or something? Besides that he has younger siblings, parents, elderly sick grandparents. Why they have to read your rude comments. They are as innocent as you are! Words hurt. I pray you never have anything like this happen to you!

  • We're all God's children.

Yes, you’re right about the judge it part. I’m 100% agreed with you on that. The only one that has the right or the authorities to judge is God. If you are a believer you would know that all things were created by God included you and I. Therefore only God has the authority to judge. But you missed the whole points here. “So who gave Scott Beyard the authority to go and killed.” Especially when he know how important his families and friends means to him and how much they all need it him. What about the victim’s families and friends. Did Scott Beyard stopped and think before he drove to the home of the victim and stabbed him to dead or just pulse and looked at the victim in the eyes or the victim’s plead for mercy and realize that what he just did is wrong and stopped himself and call for help. The answer is no. Because on Sunday February, 9 Scott Beyard think he’s God himself and he had the authority to choose who should live and who should die, and that mades Scott Beyard worse then a monster. Because monster isn’t real but Scott Beyard is. So don’t get to offended it when people started to gives comments. We are who are by choice, either through friends or family at the end of the day it’s still up to us to choose which path do we wanted to take. Nobody can made you do thing a less you wanted to. Especially when it come to an adult like Scott Beyard. What Scott Beyard did was an unthinkable and very sad situation. May God always watch it over all of us and may Jesus be in our hearts and help us all to loves like he loved and to shows compassion and mercy like he does.

  • We're all God's children.

I’m so sorry about the suspect’s name. I got it wrong.Joshua Beyard is the suspect not Scott Beyard.
