The suspect in Sunday night’s deadly stabbing near Waldron has been identified as Joshua Beyard, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

The 23 year old was arrested after deputies said he stabbed and killed another man, identified as a 59-year-old Asian male. Sheriff Amy Carpenter said authorities are not releasing the name of the victim at this time, due to the ongoing investigation.

"It's still an ongoing investigation," said Carpenter.

The fatal stabbing happened about two miles east of Waldron, said Chief Deputy Terry Staggs. The victim was alive when he was put into an ambulance at the scene, authorities said. He died either en route to or just after arriving at a local hospital, said Waldron Police Chief David Millard.

"He was the nicest man I have ever met," said the victim's neighbor Jimmy Hutchens. "He never caused no trouble."

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police are involved in the investigation.

"It's the first time anything like this ever happened," said Hutchens.

Beyard did have a previous arrest record. See that record below.
