A Logan County girl wanted to make other children feel loved on Valentine's Day.

Last month, Addilyn Beck and her mom, Stephanie, were discussing what Addilyn wanted for her upcoming sixth birthday.

"She said, 'You know, Mama, I have more toys than anybody can count, and I want to do something nice for the other children,'" said Stephanie.

Instead of gifts, Addilyn asked her party guests to bring new stuffed animals she would donate to the Children's Emergency Shelter in Fort Smith.

"She said, 'If the children had teddy bears when they came in, they wouldn't be so scared or so sad,'" Stephanie said. As a former foster child herself, Addilyn knows firsthand what these kids are going through.

Addilyn's friends and family answered her call and brought her 56 stuffed animals to donate to the Children's Emergency Shelter on Valentine's Day.

Ashley Ahlert with the Children's Emergency Shelter said Addilyn generously donated more stuffed animals than there are children staying at the shelter right now. Addilyn's gifts will continue to help future children staying at the shelter.

"Every child that comes through these doors , we will be given a stuffed animal so that they have something to hold onto at night," said Ahlert.

The Children's Emergency Shelter takes in kids ages 6-17 who have been removed from their homes through no fault of their own. Officials at the shelter said they can always use donations like toiletries, pillows and new shoes for the kids.
