Crews Respond to Several Grass Fires Sunday

There were a handful of grass fires in Sequoyah County Sunday (Feb. 16).

Authorities said 3 acres burned on South Paw Paw Road in Roland Sunday afternoon.

Roland Fire Chief James Edwards said a family was burning brush when the fire got away from them due to extremely windy conditions. Edwards said no one was hurt in that fire.

Crews also responded to a large grass fire in the Liberty area, just off Old Remy. Authorities said about 20 acres burned in that fire.

A small metal structure burned in Roland around 6 Sunday night. Authorities said no one was hurt in that fire either.
