The Cherokee Nation Foundation is helping students to prepare for college by offering free ACT prep courses in Sallisaw and Muskogee, according to a news release put out today.

Last year’s program resulted in an average increase of 3.5 points, and some students saw their scores increase by 10 points.

“Our primary goal at the foundation is to provide education assistance to our Cherokee students, and this program is a shining example of how we can help,” said Janice Randall, executive director of the Cherokee Nation Foundation. “This program can drastically increase a student’s chances of being accepted to colleges and universities and position them well to receive scholarship funds.”

The course is six weeks long and meets every Thursday from 4 pm to 7 pm. It includes interactive instructions by a Princeton review instructor and three practice tests, according to the news release.

Students can pick up registration forms from their high school guidance counselors until Friday (Feb. 21) or call the foundation at 918-207-0950.

The courses will be held at the Indian Capital Technology Centers in Sallisaw and Muskogee. The program serves students from Sallisaw, Central, Roland, Ganns, Muldrow, Vian and Gore. The Muskogee course serves students from Fort Gibson, Muskogee, Hilldale, Oktaha, Warner and Okay.

The Sallisaw Indian Capital Technology Center is located at 401 E. Houser Industrial Blvd, and the Muskogee Indian Capital Technology Center is located at 2403 N 41st Street East.
