Third Man Arrested in Connection with ASU Player’s Death

A third arrest has been made in the death of Arkansas State University football player, Markel Owens and his stepfather.

According to our Jackson, Tenn. affiliate, Police say Roddarous Bond, 19, was charged Sunday morning with attempted coercion of a witness.

Owens, 21, and Johnny Shivers, 36, were killed in the shootings on Jan. 15. Owens’ mother, Chermaine Owens, 37, was injured.

Two other suspects were arrested last month in connection with the deaths; Derrick Wade, 22, and Johnny Wade, 19, are charged with two counts of felony murder.

According to published reports,  they are also charged with especially aggravated robbery, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault of Shivers’ 16-year-old son and tampering with evidence.
