There are new developments in a Amber Alert case in Springfield, Missouri Wednesday morning (Feb. 19).

Family members told a reporter at the missing girl’s home that her body was found, our sister station in St. Louis reports.

Authorities say 10-year-old Hailey Owens was abducted Tuesday night (Feb. 19) around 5 p.m. in front of her neighbors house in Springfield, Missouri. An Amber Alert was immediately issued in Missouri and was later extended to nearby states. As of this morning, that Amber Alert has been lifted.

According to witnesses, a man in a gold Ford Ranger pickup asked her for directions and then grabbed her and pulled her into the truck.

The Springfield Police Department held a media conference at 6:30 a.m. and stated the suspect, Craig Michael Wood, 45, is behind bars at the Green County Jail. The county website lists First Degree Murder charges against him.

When authorities apprehended Wood, they found signs of foul play at the scene and in his truck, according to Police Chief Paul Williams.

The FBI has been called in to assist in the investigation. Police are planning to update the media at 11:00 a.m. this morning.
