In this Extreme Weather Week, we look at tornado safety. In the recent tornado outbreak in May of 2013, most of the tornado deaths occurred in perceived safe area, but you can still increase your chance of survival by getting to the lowest point in the center of your home.

In most cases, it is not wise to try and escape the tornado's path in your car... it could lead to widespread traffic jams.

Tornado shelters are still the best place to guarantee safety in a tornado. Arkansas and Oklahoma both offer rebates and grants for residents and that information can be found: here Arkansas and here Oklahoma .
