Hockey Fans In Fayetteville Celebrate Canada’s Win

Anywhere Canadian hockey fans gathered on Friday (Feb. 21), an outburst of pride punctuated their team’s 1-0 win over the USA in an Olympic ice hockey semifinal at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi, Russia.

Fans wearing the Maple Leaf were jubilant from Montreal to Vancouver to … Fayetteville, Arkansas?

Yes. Fayetteville, Arkansas.

A contingent of locals supporting Canada’s Olympians rooted their team on at lunchtime in at least one Fayetteville restaurant.

Canada’s supporters at the Buffalo Wild Wings at 32 W. Joyce Blvd. included Vince Brick, pictured here at left with a Team Canada flag on his hockey helmet, Tricia Moore, far right, and Mike Cook, second from right.

The man in the blue shirt wearing a Chicago Blackhawks cap?

That’s USA supporter Rickey Glover, who received some gentle ribbing from the Team Canada fans.
