Hogs Get First Win at Mississippi State Since 2000

The Arkansas basketball team snapped a 14-year streak and got back into the NCAA tournament picture all in one game Saturday.

The Razorbacks beat Mississipppi State on the road, 73-69, snapping a 12-game losing streak at Humphrey Coliseum. Arkansas improves to 18-9 overall and 7-7 in the SEC, winning five of its last six games.

Anthlon Bell lead the Hogs with a career high 19 points, shooting 3-of-8 from 3-point range. Michael Qualls scored 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting and Bobby Portis added 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Arkansas led 39-35 at the half and started to pull away in the second, leading by as many as 15 points with nine minutes to go.

Mississippi State cut into that lead with a 12-2 run, making it 73-68 with less that three minutes left.

The Hogs would not surrender another field goal the rest of the game, preserving the victory and giving the team a much need road win, its second in conference this year.

Arkansas is at Kentucky next Thursday.
