Lance Eads, a Republican and vice president of economic development for the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, is running for election to the state House in District 88.
He told 5NEWS in a direct message on Facebook on Sunday (Feb. 23) that he planned to go to Little Rock on Monday to file for office.
The incumbent, state Rep. Randy Alexander, R-Fayetteville, is seeking re-election.
In a news release on Sunday (Feb. 23), Eads said he is “a pro-life conservative who supports the freedoms given with the Second Amendment and believes government should limit its reach to allow the free enterprise system to drive the economy.”
“For more than 20 years, my job has allowed me to help Springdale businesses grow and prosper,” Eads said in the news release. “I want to take that pro-business attitude to the state Capitol in Little Rock.”
Eads, a 45-year-old former member of the Washington County Quorum Court, holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Ouachita Baptist University and worked for more than seven years as business development officer for 66 Federal Credit Union, according to his LinkedIn page.
Eads and his wife, Kim, have been married for 18 years and have two daughters.
There are no other announced candidates in the district, though contenders have from Feb. 24 through March 3 to file for office.
The primary election pitting candidates from the same party against one another is May 20, with the winners from each party advancing to the Nov. 4 general election.
