Southside High School Students spent the night in the cold to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

The event titled, Shantytown, had students sleeping in a shanty-town made out of cardboard and duct tape.

This was the second year for the fundraiser. In 2013 the students raised over $10,000, and they were hoping to raise at least $15,000 this year.

Students were raising the money by receiving pledges throughout the night.

"We're trying to tell the community that there is poverty housing in our area and around the world and that it's something that actually happens it's not... you hear about it but you never actually see it happen so we're just trying to tell people it is out there," said President and Found of the Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Money raised will go to the Arkansas Valley Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those in need.
