TRAFFIC: Patches of Ice Expected Across the Region

Below freezing temperatures across the area have caused some roads to re-freeze overnight.

In Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley the main roads and highways are mostly clear with ice patches, authorities have warned about re-freezing overnight. Side roads are still seeing slick spots.

Northwest Arkansas:

Highfill – Arkansas State Police are working a one-vehicle rollover just west of Highfill. Injuries are unknown, it is not blocking traffic at this time.

Fayetteville- Armstrong Ave. – Stone Bridge Road will see delays in construction zones while crews widen  State Highway 16 from two lanes to four lanes with sidewalks and bike lanes. Traffic signals will be installed at three intersections.

Huntsville Road– The eastbound lane from Morningside Drive to Curtis Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily (Monday through Friday) from January 27 to March 2014 to make improvements. Improvements will include upgrades to the storm drains, new curb and gutter, new sidewalk, and bike lanes.

Hwy. 112- Spur will see delays. It’s being widened from two to four lanes.

Hwy. 16– near Porter Rd. will see delays. The project plans to widen portions of  I-540 to six lanes.

Hwy. 265- Delays are expected while crews widen portions of Hwy. 265 from E. Joyce Blvd in Fayetteville to the Hwy. 412 exit in Springdale.  This project is expected to be completed in early 2014.

Springdale- Construction will continue on the Don Tyson Parkway Interchange project near mile marker 69.95 and 70.5. The project aims to build an interchange between I-540 and Don Tyson.

Hwy. 264– Delays are expected near the Wagon Wheel exit of Interstate 540 due to an ongoing Hwy. improvement project.  The purpose of this project is to widen 2.5 miles of Interstate 540 to three lanes in Benton County.

Prairie Grove- Portions of the Hwy. 62 bypass will see delays while crews work on construct east and west connections.  This project will be completed in Mid 2014.

Bella Vista Bypass- Delays are expected on Hwy. 72 due to a highway land widening project.  This construction is expected to conclude in early 2014.

Centerton- Delays are expected near Greenhouse Road on Hwy. 102B while crews widen nearly two miles of the highway.

Huntsville– Two miles of one passing lane Hwy. 412 in carroll county is being worked on. Expect delays.

I-40- Lane closures are expected on I-40 from the Johnson and Franklin County line to exit 125 in Faulkner County. The closures will continue everyday from 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., until Friday, February 28.

 

River Valley:

I-540- Slowdowns are frequently expected from Van Buren to Fort Smith due to an ongoing highway improvement project.

Hwy. 71-Hwy. 22- Delays are expected on this 5.8 mile stretch while crews work to pave Hwy. 71 near Fort Chaffee south of Van Buren in Sebastian County.  This project will be completed in mid-2014.

Hwy. 71-North of Greenwood, lane closures are expected in either the northbound or southbound directions between Elmood Cutoff and Howard Hill Rd.  for the next six weeks. Crews are planning to construct a turn lane and crossovers.
