A Brooklyn tattoo artist is facing backlash after he allegedly tattooed his dog. Published reports show the man posted the picture of his dog with the tattoo on his shoulder bearing a heart and the names “Alex” and “Mel” on Instagram under the name Mistah Metro.
The reports state the dog was unconscious and at the vet’s office undergoing a spleen removal. The picture, which is said to have been removed, re-posted, and then deleted again had the caption, “One of the many reasons my dog is cooler than yours! She had her spleen removed today and the vet let me tattoo her while she was under.”
While it is not illegal to tattoo a dog, the ASPCA told the New York Post the they do not condemn the practice if it is joy or entertainment to the owner.
