At approximately 6 am this morning, there were several accidents on Interstate 430 on the bridge over the Arkansas River, both northbound and southbound, according to affiliate station KTHV – Channel 11.
One of the accidents involved a “Washington County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Transportation Van.”
There were 10 inmates on board, and 8 were transported to the hospital to be examined, according to Public Information Officer Bill Sadler with the Arkansas State Police.
There were no injury reports, according to Sadler, so the extent of any potential injuries is unknown at this time.
The inmates were guarded at the hospital by local law enforcement officers and Arkansas Department of Corrections personnel.
