A water main break in Rogers on Monday afternoon will keep more than 150 households on a boil order for the next few days, according to the Rogers Water and Sewer Department.

A crack in a pipe split at Syre Road and North Second Street, breaking the main. Workers shut off water to the area while they worked through the afternoon and evening hours to fix the break.

"Went out to look at it and noticed it was a really bad break," said William Evans, water field manager. "So at that time, we started shutting it down and what affected areas we were going to have."

The households affected will be on a boil order, possibly until Thursday or Friday, until test results come back on bacteria in the water, according to the water department. Residents are asked to boil their water for about five minutes before consuming it, in order to kill any harmful bacteria.

"It's sampled at a lab at the Beaver Water District, which is approved by the state Health Department for taking bacterial samples, to get the water back on for customers quicker," Evans said.

Customers from Stratton Road to Yocum Road were affected by the break. The area includes between 150 and 200 households, according to the water department.
