A Midland woman fired three shots at her husband with a .22-caliber handgun on Tuesday (March 11), then crashed a pickup truck into a tree while chasing him, according to the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived at the scene on South Monroe Way and arrested Chas McDowell, 38, and his wife Nicole McDowell, 32. He faces a felony charge of illegal possession of a firearm. She faces a charge of attempted murder, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The wife reportedly fired three shots at her husband, although Chas was not struck by any of the bullets. Deputies said they found a broken window.

During the altercation, Chas attempted to run from the home, and Nicole chased him with a pickup truck, which she then crashed into a tree, according to a statement released by the Sheriff's Office..

Chas eventually got the gun away from his wife and had possession of the handgun when deputies arrived, the statement reads.

Nicole received a blow to her head with some binoculars that Chas threw at her in an attempt to get away from her. The husband and wife had both been using meth, deputies said.

Chas is being held in the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on $2,500 bond, according to the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office. Nicole is being held in jail without bond.

Authorities released a 911 call made to police by a man who identifies himself as Thomas Gillooly, Nicole's father.

"There's been gunfire there. I think one of them got shot," said Gillooly, who added he was on his way to the scene.
