A downed power line in Springdale left more than 2,000 businesses and households without electricity and caused a grass fire in the area, after a tree fell on the line, according to the Springdale Fire Department.

Fire crews responded around 5:40 p.m. Thursday to an area south of Don Tyson Parkway, along U.S. Highway 71B, where a grass fire raged after a power line fell down, according to the fire department. The fire was declared under control before 6 p.m.

A large tree appeared to have fallen on the power line, causing the incident.

No injuries were reported. An outage map for Southwest Electric Power Company showed 2,253 customers without electricity from the time of the incident until about 6:40 p.m.

The map now showed 1,071 customers were without power for more than three hours, but electricity was restored to all those affected by about 9 p.m.
