Bentonville police are searching for a man they say pulled a local woman over and pretended to be a police officer.

A woman reported to Bentonville police at as she drove home from work around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, a man stopped her vehicle. The man tried to open up her door, and she told him she was going to call the police, according to the Bentonville Police Department.

The man then backed away from the car and drove off, police said.

The woman described the man’s vehicle as a black passenger car with a matte finish and dark tinted windows. It looked like an old police car, similar to a Ford Crown Victoria, and was equipped with a silver spotlight and red and blue police lights on the dashboard, according to Bentonville police.

The man was well groomed and about six feet tall, with dark hair and a goatee. He was wearing black pants and a black long-sleeved shirt, police said.
