It may not feel like it, but Spring is officially here.

The 22nd annual Lawn and Garden Show was underway at the Fort Smith Convention center.

The show began Friday (March 21), and will end Sunday (March 23).

"People are ready for spring, so they just showed up, and they've been showing up and you can tell people are buying stuff and smiling and having a good time," said one guest at the home show.

Earle Maxwell, president of the Lawn and Garden Committee, said they had their best turn out in years, even with the ever changing weather.

Maxwell said early March is when gardeners should begin planting, but the weather this year made that difficult.

"It's been very difficult because you try to plan, you try to start something, and then maybe three or four days later you get to go back to it," said Maxwell.

Some River Valley residents said they may wait until May before planting, because the weather this winter has been so unpredictable.

Wallace said it was safe to start planting lettuce,  spring flowers, spring bulbs, shrubs, and trees.
