Most area students are off of school this week for spring break, and parents in Northwest Arkansas are looking for activities to occupy their kids.

The Boys and Girls Club in Bentonville is open Monday through Friday this week from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to accommodate spring break children. Their normal hours are 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. while school is in session.

For parents who work, workers at the club said this may be an option to ensure kids have meal time, play time and take part in something record breaking--literally.

"We are going to try to break a world record with our clubs. We are going to see how many kids we can get for a 30-minute window working out to a fitness video," said Kevin Crowe, director of operations at the club.

For parents who have this time off, many local businesses are offering programs that may appeal to parents and their children looking for events to attend together. Crystal Bridges has free arts and crafts classes all week, as well as a puppet show and family tours. Click here for detailed information on their spring break specials.

Rogers Public Library is doing their usual story time and craft time, but has added a few more treats. Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. is a special spring-themed craft. Thursday, the library will host a mini-movie marathon. At noon, the library will be showing Ratatouille and at 2 p.m., they will be showing Beauty and the Beast.

For a fun family weekend, the library is also having a spring carnival with a petting zoo Saturday at 2 p.m.
