About 30 gallons of cooking oil spilled from a tanker truck in a one-vehicle accident early Thursday (March 27) near Gateway, said Robert McGowen, director of Benton County emergency services.
No one was injured in the accident about 7 a.m. on U.S. 62, he said. Traffic was reduced to one lane on the highway early Thursday.
Another tanker was being sent to the area Thursday morning to off-load the remaining cooking oil from the wrecked tanker, which holds 5,000 to 6,000 gallons of oil, McGowen said.
The spilled cooking oil presented no public health risk, he said.
